Panoramic X-rays

Panoramic X-rays

The most modern dental technology and high-tech equipment available at Persimmon Dental Care have revolutionized how we treat our patients. Panoramic x-ray has many benefits for patients, which makes it a necessity.

What is a Panoramic X-Ray?

A two-dimensional panoramic x-ray captures an image of a patient's entire mouth. It shows a picture of all the teeth, bones of the neck and head, and various other critical anatomical structures. This allows our dentists to notice other significant issues in the surrounding tissue and jawbones, such as oral cancer or other anomalies.

Why Do I Need a Panoramic X-Ray?

There are many reasons why we suggest a panoramic x-ray, such as:

  • A panoramic radiograph provides a complete image of your mouth and helps the dentist spot dental issues in an earlier phase. It enables our dentists to detect tumors, cysts, abnormalities in your jaw, and even cancer. Early detection leads to relatively non-invasive and cost-effective treatments than detecting it later in the course of its development.
  • With children, we employ a panoramic x-ray to determine the need for orthodontics. We use it for adolescents for the same reason, in addition, to seeing the way they're developing. A panoramic scan is utilized in adults to identify early warning signs that indicate oral cancer, detect TMJ problems, cysts, and other abnormalities.
  • It reduces radiation exposure by 40 percent as compared to traditional x-rays.

What Can I Expect from a Panoramic X-Ray?

In a panoramic x-ray, we adjust your chin and head to stabilize your bite and keep your mouth open. The x-ray machine will spin in an arc around your head, allowing us to take an extensive view of your mouth and jaw. The process is fast, easy, and painless, taking around 30 minutes.

A panoramic x-ray is recommended every three to five years, and a lot of insurance plans offer advantages for the process. The relatively affordable price of the panoramic x-ray is negligible compared to the suffering the patient will be forced to endure due to oral cancer. It's safer instead of being sorry!

At Persimmon Dental Care, our primary concern is every patient's dental health. We use the latest dental technology and recommend preventive treatments, such as panoramic x-ray, to ensure that our patients are happy and healthy in the long run.
